Sample Collection using Trained Collectors

We understand that collecting samples from employees can be both an ethical and sensitive matter. We provide a on-site sample collection service that follows strict national guidelines that are both ethical and follow the correct chain of custody so that results are legally defensible. We understand that the sample collection process needs to integrate with your business and uphold integrity. All of our collection appointments are arranged to meet your deadlines and our staff of fully trained collection officers can be arranged 24/7, alternatively we can train your staff on the correct Chain of Custody protocol for sample collections.

Hair Sample Collections for the Workplace

A small hair sample is taken from the employee by one of experienced collection officers. This sample is usually taken from head hair but body hair can also be used. The hair sample is then placed into a packet and sealed and signed infront of the employee. Our collectors are able to provide legally defensible collection samples because they follow a strict Chain of Custody this is done by:

• Collecting the hair sample in the appropriate manner into a packet which is signed and sealed infront of the employee.
• Collecting and then dispatching the samples safely and punctually
• Analysis of the sample is conducted in a fully accredited laboratory

Note: Two samples can be collected at the same time. The second sample can be securely stored for a minimum of 12 months.

Urine Sample Collections for the Workplace

Urine samples are also collected by following a strict chain of custody. The test can be activated onsite by our trained collection officer and a instant preliminary result can be seen onsite. If there is a positive test result then the collector puts the sample into a container, which is properly sealed, and bar-coded. The collector will then send the sample to the lab for a confirmation test, which will include a detailed analysis of the result. Alternatively, some employers choose to send all samples straight to the laboratory rather than just the likely positives.

Failure to maintain a competent and thorough collection protocol can result in legal challenges. It’s important to get it right the first time so that your company can be confident in its drug and alcohol policy but also so that your employees are comfortable with the way tests are conducted.
