Pre Employment Drug Testing

Employees are at the heart of a businesses success. A comprehensive pre employment process is essential to hiring a team of individuals that respect your company’s vision and helps ensure a safer working environment for everyone at your premises. It can prevent you from hiring employees who are more likely to break the law on your premises. Your company’s drug and alcohol policy should be included in the pre employment process to help prevent future problems for your company.

According to requirements under the HSE, employers have the right to ensure that a workplace is free from hazards. Part of this is to protect your business and employees by screening potential employees with a drug and alcohol test. These tests must be carried out following the correct ethical and legal protocols.

Before you request a drug and alcohol test as part of the pre employment screening process, you must provide the applicant with a written version of your company’s drug and alcohol policy which states the following:

• The job requires applicants to be drug and alcohol free
• The applicant will be given notice of the testing before being tested
• Details of the method of drug testing that will be conducted
• Consent from the applicant must be obtained
• To avoid discrimination all employees and future employees should be treated in the same way.

Additionally, the applicant should be provided with a job offer that is conditional based on the completion of a negative drug testing result.

Types of Drug Test for Pre Employment

We provide either Urine or Hair alcohol and drug testing for pre-employment.

There are two ways that we conduct these tests either all tests are sent directly to the laboratory or a cheaper immediate result test can be conducted with only the positive results being sent to the laboratory for a fully legally defensible confirmation test.

2. Hair drug testing is a very accurate option that provides a longer-term historical look at the applicants drug and alcohol use. A hair test can produce a 12 month drug use timeline and is alco seen a sa more convenient sample collection method.

We can help your business create and implement a thorough drug and alcohol policy that includes a fair and consistent pre-employment protocol on substance abuse.
